The story

Koa was built solo, in iMessage, for people who don't want to "open an app" to talk to their AI. ChatGPT and Claude are incredible at one-off questions, but the moment you close the tab, they forget who you are, what you're working on, what you said yesterday. That's a different relationship than what most people actually want.

Koa is a thread you have with someone — except the someone is an AI that texts you first when you go quiet, knows you've been grinding for hours and tells you to eat, remembers the brand of bottle in the photo you sent six weeks ago, and pings you at 9:30am every day to go to the gym because you asked it to.

The manifesto

• Persistence over cleverness. The AI that remembers you wins.
• Proactive over reactive. Texting first beats answering.
• Execution over advice. Set the reminder. Send the email. Generate the image. Don't just suggest.
• Native channels over apps. iMessage today. Telegram, Discord later. People use what they already have open.
• Personality over capability. A useful AI with no character is forgotten. A character with usefulness is loved.
• Trust over revenue. Affiliate links and ads exist, but they're never the reason for a recommendation. Ever.
